Using the Monitoring Configuration Wizard

Platí pro: Windows SBS 2003

You can use the Monitoring Configuration Wizard to enable, modify, or repair the monitoring and reporting features in Microsoft® Windows® Small Business Server 2003. After installing the server, run the wizard to establish the initial monitoring configuration by clicking Configure Monitoring in the To Do List, or by clicking Set Up Monitoring Reports and Alerts in the Monitoring and Reporting snap-in in Server Management. If you need to make changes to the configuration at a later time, run the wizard again.

Based upon your selections, the Monitoring Configuration Wizard will perform one or more of the following actions:

  • Configure report settings that enable you to view server performance and usage reports.

  • Create a default set of critical alert notifications.

  • Changes the service state of Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine (MSDE 2000) from disabled to automatic.

  • Enable Task Scheduler and add tasks to collect report data and send reports.

  • Install the Web Usage Logging Service.

  • Enable logging for Internet Information Services (IIS), which is used to collect information about Outlook Web Access usage, Routing and Remote Access, Exchange, and Fax.

  • Send confirmation of your monitoring configuration settings to e-mail recipients.

Steps for configuring monitoring options

Use the Monitoring Configuration Wizard to specify your preferences for viewing or receiving monitoring reports and alerts. When you run the wizard, the pages appear in the following sequence.

  • Welcome. Provides a brief description of the purpose of the wizard.

  • Configuration Mode. Specify whether you want to modify your existing monitoring settings to add a feature that was not previously enabled, to remove a feature that is not being used, or to reinstall the monitoring features if they are not working correctly.

Upozornění

If you specify to reinstall monitoring features, your previous monitoring configuration will be overwritten and all existing monitoring data will be deleted.

The Configuration Mode page does not appear the first time you run the Monitoring Configuration Wizard.

  • Reporting Options. Specify whether you want to view or receive server performance or usage reports. Selections on the page will either create a new server performance report or server usage report, or will overwrite existing reports by that name, depending upon the configuration mode selected. If a check box is cleared, an existing report will be deleted.

  • E-mail Options. If you selected to receive reports in e-mail, specify the e-mail addresses for report recipients. When sending e-mail to recipients within your domain, it is not necessary to specify the domain name in the e-mail address.

  • Business Owner Usage Report. Grant business owners or other users permission to view the usage report on their intranet at http://ServerName/monitoring.

  • Alerts. Specify whether you want to receive immediate notification of critical alerts and the e-mail addresses to which alert notifications will be sent.

  • Completing the Monitoring Configuration Wizard. Displays a summary of the configuration settings that will be made. You can print the summary information using the link provided.
