The following steps will show you how to create a rework batch order. You can create a rework batch order for any finished formula item. There should be sufficient on-hand inventory (including any catch weight inventory) to fill the order. You must manually reserve this inventory before you run estimation.

  1. Navigate to Production control > Production orders > All production orders.

  2. On the Action Pane, select New batch order.

  3. In the Item number field, select the item to be produced. The default values previously defined for the item are displayed.

  4. Select the Rework batch toggle to Yes.

  5. Optionally, enter any remaining information or modify default values as necessary for the particular production.

  6. Select Create.

  7. To add or modify details for the route to be associated with the rework batch order, Select Production order > Order details > Route and add the information in the Route form.

  8. To add lines to the rework batch order, Select Production order > Order details > Formula, add or modify lines in the Formula line form, and close the form.

  1. The batch order should contain one material line that includes the same formula item and quantity as the original order. Add other material lines to complete the rework batch order.

Batch order sequencing

You can use batch order sequencing to define sequences that you can assign to items. A sequence is an item characteristic that is used to sort items in groups so that the items with similar characteristics are scheduled for production together.

You can assign one or multiple sequences to an item. You can prioritize or rank the sequences based on their importance in the sorting sequence. For example, items that are produced in a certain area of the production facility can have many characteristics. It is important to group those items that share a high-level characteristic, such as a known allergen. After the items are sorted by the high-level characteristic, they are then sorted by lower-level characteristics such as color or viscosity.

By using batch order sequencing, you can create a production route for a released product and identify specific resources in the route, where it is very important that production is correctly sequenced to maintain good quality, improve yields, and reduce changeover activities.

You can perform the following tasks for batch order sequencing:

  • Create a batch order sequence and define values for the sequence.

  • Create a sequence group and assign sequences to the sequence group.

  • Assign a sequence and sequence values to an item, item group, or all items.

  • Assign a sequence group to an operation resource or resource group

  • Set up sequencing parameters for a master plan
