Set up tenant notifications

Completed

Notifications are sent by email for administrative events that occur on the tenant. For example, notifications are sent when a major upgrade is available for tenant environments, when an environment upgrade has succeeded or failed, or when extensions require changes to be compatible with an upcoming release.

Notifications are sent to all email addresses that are listed in the notification recipients list of the Business Central administration center. The list is managed manually by adding and removing recipients to ensure that the right individuals are notified of the event.

Internal administrators are the system administrators, IT professionals, or superusers of the customer's company, who are assigned the Global admin role in the Microsoft 365 admin center.

To keep track of upcoming changes, including new and changed features, planned maintenance, or other important announcements, go to Message center.

For more information, see the article Track new and changed features in the Microsoft 365 Message center.

Updating environments

As an enhancement to the Business Central update process, tenant administrators will receive email notifications with detailed feedback when an environment update fails. This notification includes actionable information and next steps when correcting the cause of the failure requires action from the administrator.

Tenant administrators often have questions about required actions when an environment update fails. Now, with detailed notifications of an update failure, you can provide information on what caused the update failure and any next steps that should be taken by the administrator to resolve the error. This addition further streamlines the update process for Business Central.
