After installing Teams PWA on Linux Redhat we are not able to get notifications of any type. We have gone through the various permissions settings and they all appear to be on. Is there an issue with this feature ? Does anyone have this working ?

What is the detailed version of Redhat you are using?
Do you mean you wouldn't get any notifications for 1:1 chat as well?
Please also have a check of the Teams on the web to see if it is the same behavior.

Is there any plan to add sound to the only visual notifications? This is pretty terrible for my workflow. Thanks!

Same here, no desktop notifications and no sound, my boss thinks I'm being lazy, you're ruining my job :-(
Ryan: I installed an app called exactly "teams-for-linux" , in that app I get sound notifications when the new message doesn't come from the selected conversation. Sadly, if you are in a chat and you minimize Teams the notification sound for that conversation won't play. Unfortunately, this app is not showing desktop notifications right now, it supposedly has a parameter like --enablenotificationhack or something like that but to me it doesn't work, maybe you should give it a try, might be an issue with my window manager (budgie).

I'm facing the same issue with Ubuntu 22.04.2 LTS and it is super annoying to not have sounds when receiving a message or when a meeting starts.

Same here, now stuck with the PWA version of Teams, now I don't get any notifications from anything and people think I'm ignoring them!
Notifications are enabled in teams and in Chrome, but nothing appears or sounds and I have no system tray icon to tell me there was a message or anything.
Definitely a massive step backwards in terms of usability.

To be honest I was surprised that there wasn't more comments complaining about notifications in Linux. But now I understand it, you delete all inconvenient comments. Good job Microsoft, good job.

I'm totally with you, it's not possible remove a software without providing a valid replacement - that's typical microsoft behavior, do you remember Vista and what it did with all drivers???

I use ubuntu 22.04, and I receive notifications, but without sound. I checked the permissions, and all is permited, as you can see on the screenshot.

Same for me, notification about PW pops up but with no sound and notification about call with sound but no popup ;] (it's visible only inside window app)
I also get visual notifications, but then I don't see it and am late to a meeting. This is a critical feature for me and a big downgrade from the native client.

Same here I can see notification but no sound .. funny thing is that for incoming calls it rings like it supposed to.
Just notifications about meetings and new messages on chat are silent so I'm missing them.
I work on Ubuntu.
Same here, Ubuntu 22.10, no sound at all in notifications. To me it's absolutely critical.

Same issue on Ubuntu 22.04. I've tried looking at permissions as well. When people call I get notified. When meetings start I don't get the alert to join nor do I receive a sound when I get a chat message. It's pretty sad to stop the thick client version when the web version can't even support these simple things.

Same issue here on Ubuntu 22.04. All the permissions are correctly set, no sound.
It is rhel 8.4

I haven't used the web version as Ive been using the linux client

Thanks for trying to help, sadly doesn´t work in Ubuntu 22.10. Outlook PWA on the other hand is almost fully functional notifications related.
Dear microsoft employee, let notice "notification" is not "sound": we all see a popup somewhere but what is missing and we need is a SOUND, what was provided by desktop version.
PWA is a wasting of time and a totally unuseful solution, give us back desktop version - please!!!
Both the desktop version and PWA are full of bugs. If PWA is easier to maintain then go for it but please keep improving! I don't get any sound even with permissions granted
