Team,

I built Win 10 1909 64 bit ent edition and created Win 10 22H2 servicing ring and deployed via SCCM.

I think its possible to upgrade from 1909 to 22H2. correct me if I am wrong.

Installed latest 1909 version service stack and cumulative update.

The deployment status says compliant but device is not installed with 22H2 version.

Am I missing anything? Please guide

Regards,

Santhosh

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

1,For the windows 10 version 1909 and earlier, make sure the devices have installed the latest CU and SSU, then the update windows 10 22H2 may be considered as required for these devices.

2,For the windows 10 version 1909 and earlier, an in-place upgrade task sequence is suitable to upgrade to Windows 10 22H2.

3,For Windows 10 version 2004, 20H2, 21H1, or 21H2, we can upgrade directly to version 22H2 via enablement package.

The updates will only update within the same build (1909), so it will get you to the most recent update within 1909 and no further (so technically the state it was in 2 years ago).

For upgrades, you're looking for the folder "\Software Library\Overview\Windows 10 Servicing". You can deploy it via the method you prefer (Task Sequence or Service Plan) and get to a build version you need for your purpose.

Just as a friendly reminder (you hopefully already know): As you're currently behind the Windows 10 1909 EOL by nearly 2 years and the EOL of Windows 10 is October 2025, you need to think long-term (lifecycle of the devices you're maintaining) whether you can give yourself more breathing space.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.

I've downloaded the Windows 10 22H2 ISO from below Microsoft link, and it has the install.esd file in the source file, you can try this:

    install.esd

For the windows 10 version 1909 and earlier, an in-place upgrade task sequence is suitable to upgrade to Windows 10 22H2.

The above method worked. Thanks Simon
