Hi,

I opened a website weeks ago. It's just a landing page for our start up project. One page, one section, social media links and contact e-mail only. Nothing more since than. After one week it started to show "This site has been reported as unsafe" page. I still don't know why. Searched on the internet for hours. The only solution I saw on the internet is using "Report that this site doesn't contain phishing threats" link on the page. I did that. Dozens of time for 3 weeks.. Nothing is changing. After 24 hours, In the mail that I'm getting after reporting my website as safe says:

"We typically expect to take 24 hours for our investigation. During the investigation, you may not see changes to the status of your site. If the status of your site has not changed after 24 hours, please contact us with a reply to this message. Please do not change the subject when replying."

I also do that in every 24 hours, still no change..

I'm dead serious about privacy. For myself and others. My website does not collect any information, does not contain phishing content, does not contain any virus. I'm tired of saying those in the application form. I search through multiple security plugin and security website like Sucuri, WPSec, Wordfence etc. They all say my website is clean. Other browsers show my website normally. How can I ged rid of this? I'm kind of getting frustrated..

I'm having the exact same problem and have been trying to resolve this for over a month. I have reported the two app installers as safe over a dozen times and nada.

Can you share the HTTP address?

I would think that Defender is not going to block a site because because it doesn't like the background color choices that it uses. There must be something that Defender detected. While the site may look fine, there could be javascript on the page that is doing something that is not visible to the user.

Have you traced the HTTP calls that it makes? Most browsers have a network trace capability (F12 in MsEdge). Use that to analyze the pages that your site is calling. Personally I prefer Telerik's Fiddler tool for debugging HTTP network activity.

I've got exactly the same problem. I'am trying to "unlock" my page since march and got no response from microsoft. the page is also running wordpress v5.8.2.

WPRocket is by the way an caching plugin. there is a query string to bypass wp-rockets optimizations as you can see here: https://docs.wp-rocket.me/article/1285-bypass-wp-rockets-caching-and-optimizations

But iam not using that plugin.... maybe there is something else...

Have you contacted WordPress support? They should have the resources and incentives to open a case with Microsoft premier support if their customers are being impacted by a false malware alert.

The link back to this site is broken. It's .html, not .htm.

I see that Wordpress moderator replied to you, I'd suggest that you thank him for the reply and ask if he knows of any way to get a definitive reason as to why Defender (McAfee) has blocked a site. You can't fix your site unless you know what's wrong. The guides that he posted are nice, but they are essentially generic guides and that you need something specific. Also ask about getting McAfee to unblock your site. He may have a better site to request that on.

@kill-pr0cess.inc Use these 2 sites to scan to your site. They detected some issues. Get those fixed and then you and @taenzer can go back to Wordpress and ask for additional help.

Hey,
i did use the form at the McAfee site and now they removed my site from the blacklist. on sucuri, the site is now also shown as safe. but when i call up the site with microsoft edge, it is still displayed as dangerous. emptying the cache did not help either.

any suggestions?

I don't work for MS, so I have no way to internally contact someone to get a "real" answer for you. When was the last time you tried the "I am the owner - report a website" link? If it were my site, I'd be real angry and reporting it several times a week. Do you get any response at all?

I was hoping that maybe WordPress would have some kind of partner support contract with MS where they could talk to an actual MS support person on your behalf. Maybe go back to WP and tell him that your site is now reporting as clean, but Defender is still blocking it. And that you're tried the report as safe option, and that multiple WordPress users are having this problem, and would they please contact MS and get a definitive answer about what is wrong with the site and get instructions as to how you can fix the root vulnerability. Then they can document the problem so that future WP customers will know how to fix it.

Another option would be to get a new domain name. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee that Defender won't detect the same issue and block it too.

If your organization is willing to spend money, you could try the pay-per-incident Premier support and see if they can help you. There might be German specific site somewhere. I don't know how that works. I used to work for a large company, and we had a full support contract.

So I got to wondering if this ever got resolved and I tried one of the sites. It returned the same Windows Defender warning. Then I tried http://www.sportverein-tambach.de/ and this time I got a Malwarebytes warning for "Website blocked due to ransomware".

I had recently updated MB and it signed me up for their 14 day premium trial. I searched their app and files but I still have not found a decent explanation what exactly was detected.

Right now, I'm thinking that you guys need to go back to WordPress and ask them for help.

UPDATE:
My Page has been removed from the Microsoft Defender Blacklist and works fine now. I think the reason for blacklisting my site was a wrong detection by mc afee

My website is being blocked by Windows Edge too.

I got an email saying it will take 24 hours for them to look at the website but nothing has been done so far. I'm running WordPress as well.

There is nothing we can do to help you with this unfortunately. You have to wait for the MS team to respond. Our site was also flagged and we contacted them and they corrected it within 24 hours. But then it got blocked again. I think they are potentially having issues right now.

I've switched to searching via Google and have no problem
