Usb-C Ethernet does not work under Windows 11 (works under Windows 10)

I have a Baseus Usb-C 16 - 1 Hub -Realtek 8153 Ethernet does not works in Windows 11 - all other ports works fine.

I installed last Realtek drivers for windows 11 - version USB_Win11_11.0.2.1_20_08162021 does not works.

I have Asus Vivobook with Amd Ryzen 7 3700U with Realtek 8822CE Wireless Lan - wireless works at 400 Mbit

I also have a VPN connection with ExpressVpn works also.

I want to use Ethernet connection via Usb-C hub, because is faster than wireless, this connection is 1000 Mbit, my internet connection is 1000 Mbit so i can use my internet at maximum speed.

Do you have any solution?

I had a user with this same issue. I was able to resolve it by doing the following:

Select Search, type USB, select Open USB Setings.

Turn "Connection Notifications" off & on.

Unplug the USB-C Ethernet adapter from the USB port (while Windows is running), wait a few seconds, then plug it back in.

Windows then recognized the USB-C ethernet and connected. This was an Anker USB-C hub with Ethernet.

This does not work. Get a temporary et a USB 3 to RJ45 until MS corrects this issue.

I have same / similar problem with QGeeM's HC 1202 USB port. Worked reliably under Windows 10 for 2+ years; problem appeared on first restart after installing upgrade to Windows 11. Tried suggestions found online, include one with this issue. The hub's Ethernet port shows no LED activity. No driver updates found by Windows Updates.

i think the adapter is broken. I have 2 UGREEN USB C to Ethernet Adapter Thunderbolt 3 to RJ45. And one of the Ethernet adapter suddenly can't receive wifi even the lights on and computer knows how many Mbps it have. / or does anyone know whats the solution pls? i really need the solution.

i just had similar problem few days ago.
in my case, the USB 3.0 TP-Link gigabit network adapter detected as an cd/dvd drive chen plugged in, and the device is dissapearing from the device manager.
the USB to ethernet device is working fine before with windows 7 and 10.

i had found the problem was the wireguard vpn drivers crashed into the system networking drivers & registry. fresh re-install the OS and make sure the USB ethernet adapter work first, then installing the wireguard vpn drivers later. it works normally now.

maybe similar problem caused on the other windows 11 too, when an "3rd party VPN app" drivers being installed to the windows 11 system.

The adapter works in another Mac Laptop: SO the adapter is fine.
The jack works with another USB-only adapter: So the jack is also fine.
But the LAN-USB combo adapter is not detecting in Inspiron 15- 5620 Dell laptop.

Wondering: Whether this Dell model or Windows 11 is compatible with a LAN adapter at all?

Any help will be appreciated.

I had a problem with a Anker USB hub with etherent on a surface GO3 running windows 11.

It had been working OK but then lost connection.

The hud appeared as a usb device in device manager but the ethernet connection did not show up under network connections.

As this was on a customers site it is difficult to asssertain if this was a windows update issue or if the customer installed / did something to cause the problem.

After trying several things such as installing the latest drivers , disableing the hub , removing and re-stating the PC etc , etc. I finally restored all network adapter to factory settings, using the option in the ethernet connections settings page.

Although I had to re-enter the Wifi password , the ethernet connection via the Anker hub was now found and could be set up and functioned correctly.

Had a similar experience with this BaseUS 16 in 1 device, after upgrade to Windows 11 it worked fine except the network card was not there. Unplug USB-C and plug it back in, no change. Until I also unplugged the power cable in the back alongside unplugging the USB-C cable. After that the network card came back.

Whoa, thanks @LHarr499 - this worked for me today - Windows 11 and a Baseus StarJoy 9-Port Type-C Hub. I recently updated the drivers for the integrated Killer Networks LAN connection on my laptop and after a reboot the RJ-45 port on the USB-C hub stopped working while all other ports worked fine. Multiple reboots and unplugging and replugging didn't resolve the issue until I did this and now the connection is working again. Thanks!

I tried all this and none of it worked.

For my part: if I boot the computer with the USB-C Ethernet adaptor plugged in, the device is detected in Device Manager and it works. But if I unplug/replug, the device disappears and never reappears. Have to restart (with the adaptor plugged in) to get it to work again. BOOOO Microsoft.

Windows 11, 23H2, 3 different USB-C ethernet adaptors.

Same, the tip by @LHarr499 worked like a charm for me as well (and I have a completely different laptop and usb-c adapter). Incredible! On top of what he recommended, I tried unplugging everything else from the hub except for the network, by the way, and plugged everything else back one by one, in case that helps.

A similar issue in my case with LAN over USB. It was due to VPN virtual lan adapters enabled. The issue got resolved after disabling the VPN drivers which I usually don't use when connected to LAN. No re-installation of OS / drivers were needed. Thanks to "NIghtkNight" for the lead.

I did this and it worked.

Go to Settings>Network&Internet>VPN. Turn off "Allow VPN over Metered networks" and turn off "Allow VPN While Roaming"

Leave them off for about 1 minute before turning them back on. It should fix the problem. IF not, leave them off.

Thanks a lot friend! This actually worked with D-link DUB-2334 on 2 PC's with Windows 11.
One moment (if anyone else has this problem): at first I've unplugged DUB-2334 then I turned off flags, then plugged DUB-2334 back in.

I have had similar issues with " thunderbolt hubs " , from various supplies.....Currently using a minisopuru (14in 1)

((often used Lenovo & Dell Hubs eg WD19T , or WD19TBS ))

Issues::

a) USBc - port to connect to the laptop (often don't work)

b) USB c - USB a = usually have slow speeds (often very slow read /write )

c) ETHERNET port = not to FULL "gigabit speed"

Solutions :: ((( after lots of reading and testing ((used several of my older "hubs" in doing these )) WORKED FOR VARIOUS "USB_ C HUBS

a) if you are using WINDOWS 10 or 11 (pro to Enterprise ; especially windows 10 /11 Server)

Download these drivers:

Read and than install these DRIVERS < ASIX - USB c Drivers)

b) Download the latest "Intel drivers" / REALTEK specially via the INTEL DRIVER TOOL

Hi everyone,

I've been looking around to find a solution to this issue and I found one. My IcyBox-4040-DK is equipped with a USB to Gigabit LAN from Realtek (RTL8153) too.

As you all, on Windows 10 it was working fine and I switched to Windows 11.

I invite you to go to Realtek website (https://www.realtek.com)

Under Downloads > Communications Network ICs > "Realtek USB FE / GBE / 2.5G / 5G Ethernet Family Controller Software" (https://www.realtek.com/Download/List?cate_id=585)

Then, download and install the "Win11 Auto Installation Program (NetAdapterCx)" (https://www.realtek.com/Download/ToDownload?type=direct&downloadid=4104)

After this, my USB-C to LAN is back to work.

This solution should work for the following other Realtek ICs:

RTL8157, RTL8156 / RTL8156B, RTL8153 / RTL8153B / RTL8153C / RTL8153D / RTL8153E, RTL8154 / RTL8154B, RTL8152B
