My Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI) Results

I thought of one more management related topic to share with you.... my own brain.

Managers are often involved in training that helps them understand their employees better in an attempt to make a more productive workplace. One of the ways managers try to understand their employees is to categorize them in one way or another. There are many theoretical approaches to categorizing people based on their psyche and work habits. You may have heard of Ned Hermann’s book, “The Whole Brain Business Book” or Carl Jung’s book, “The Psychological Types”. Similar (at least as far as I can tell), is the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument (HBDI). I recently took the HBDI "test" (I was profiled) and my results come out really skewed in the "A Quadrant" and really low in the "C Quadrant". This means that I like to solve problems, am analytical, technical, mathematical, and logical. It also means that I lack those people skills, such as interpersonal emotional, musical, spiritual, and that I'm, not a talker. None of this is a surprise to people who know me! HBDI has a sample result posted, which looks very much like my own results. So now you know how I tick. Knowing how your employees tick can be very useful too!

By the way, my dad took the Whole Brain test a few years ago, and is proud to say that he is rated a "whole brain", unlike my extremely skewed brain. :-)
