New Interfaces

So I keep hearing more and more about rather interesting news about new interfaces.  NYU seems to be pioneering these and I'll point a few out that they are working on:

Multi-touch sensing through Frustrated Total Immersion Reflection

Multi-touch Interaction Research (sound)

LED Touch Display

With the MS Research tech fair next week, it will be interesting to see the new interfaces for input that we are developing internally and how we are going to leverage them for our upcoming products.  I could think of several interesting ways to take advantage of these interfaces for usability.  The last centimeter interface of the LED touch display could be great for 3d interaction becuase it can measure proximty of your finger to the pad.  It also could function as a nifty interface on a portable media player.
