NoSQL and Windows Azure–Choices, Options and Strategies

Andrew J. Brust from Blue Badge Insights, Inc. has just published an outstandingly detailed paper on NoSQL and the features of Windows Azure that are NoSQL in nature or that are NoSQL-like.

Starting with a discussion of NoSQL in general and the types of NoSQL databases (Key-Value Stores, Document Stores, Wide Column Stores and Graph Databases) he proceeds to show how existing features of Windows Azure Table Storage, SQL Azure features and the running of other NoSQL databases in Windows Azure support the types of applications for which the NoSQL approach is appropriate. As a side note he also goes into some detail on the NoSQL features that are also supported in Microsoft's on-premise products and technologies.
