Windows 2008 / R2 Backups

 

Today, I was messing around with the windows backup service and created a backup of the system state.  When I browsed to the directory I noticed that the actual backup consisted of a bunch of xml files and an actual VHD file.  I attached the vhd file using disk manager and guess what, I was able to actually see the stuff in the backup.  AWESOME – seems like a very small win but I think it’s a cool one!
