SharePoint for disasters

Joel just posted about SharePoint for disasters. I want to widen the audience for this use of SharePoint. I know the Norwegian Red Cross uses a SPS2003 solution, but I do not know how far they have taken it.

Have you any other examples of site or preset configurations for use in disasters? I would really like to know. Especially how you are thinking about handling poor network connections and a mobile workforce.
