Windows Phone 7 Launches

It’s finally here. Windows Phone 7 was announced Monday, with a host of vendor partners ready to ship devices.

I think what I like most about the phone is that it’s the complete opposite of a “me-too” device. Microsoft didn’t just copy what Apple or Google did, slap a colorful flag on it, and call it a Windows Phone. They rethought a mobile phone from the ground up, and didn’t use any other phone as a reference point.

The early reviews are very positive as well. Folks are liking what they see. I have to admit that I do, too. Now, it’s your job. If you’re a developer, you need to come up with some great apps for Windows Phone 7. As you’ll see in our December issue, we’ll have some sneak peeks into how to do just that. In the meantime, let me know what you’re coming up with, and how you like developing on the Windows Phone 7 platform.
