Microsoft Giving Campaign and the action northeast trust

As some of you might know, currently the Microsoft Giving Campaign is going on which encourages employees to donate to the charity of their choice. Amazingly the campaign managed to collect $32.7 million in cash last year. I just find that really amazing. Kudos to everyone who is a part of this and any other similar programs. A very welcome addition this year is the fact that Microsoft will now be matching the time that employees donate to charities as well - I think this is a very cool way to encourage people to give.

As part of this campaign I am supporting a small grassroots level organization, the action northeast trust, which is doing some really great work in a small remote part of the world, Bongaigaon, Assam, India. There motto captures the essence of what they strive for: "Working with the strengths of the weakest". Whether you are in Microsoft or not, if you are interested in donating to this organization, you can find details over here and how to do so.

Among other things, I finally managed to get my site up and running from a web server running in my den at home. Just wanted to do this for kicks for some time now and thanks to Community Server, it turned out to be a lot easier than I thought. Check it out when you get a chance.
