Announcing: BizTalk Server 2004 WSE Adapter Technology Preview

Ok, here we go again :).

The BizTalk Server team is committed to providing our customers with the best experience for implementing and leveraging service oriented architectures by taking advantage of business process and Web services both today and in the future. At TechEd US May 2004, the WSE team announced the availability of WSE 2.0 with support for WS-Security and WS-Policy. In conjunction with that announcement we have simultaneously released the technical preview of the BizTalk Server Adapter for WSE 2.0. The press release including WSE 2.0, BizTalk Server 2004 and IBF is located here.

The BizTalk Server Adapter for WSE 2.0 provides the following key benefits:

* Using policy, the ability to graphically consume secure Web services inside orchestration through a new WSE adapter.

* The ability to publish an orchestration as a secure web service through an enhanced WSE capable Web service publishing wizard.

* Support for the key features in WSE 2.0 including WS-Security and WS-Policy

Coupled with the rapid development features in BizTalk Server 2004 customers can now build service oriented architectures including secure Web services with plug-and-play end-points, providing management with built-in scale out capability and extensive system and business level monitoring.

How do I get it?

1. Point your browser to:

https://beta.microsoft.com

2. Sign-in with your .NET Passport

3. Click the Sign-in as Guest link

4. Use the Guest ID WSEAdapter (case sensitive)

5. Enter the BizTalk Server Adapter for WSE 2.0 program and follow the instructions. You will receive an email on your .NET passport account within 72 hours (probably more like within 24 hours) with the download instructions.

Product Pricing: The BizTalk Server 2004 Adapter for Web Service Enhancement 2.0 will be made available as a web download at no additional license cost to all existing BizTalk Server 2004 customers.

Product Support Policy: The BizTalk Server Adapter for WSE 2.0 will be supported on the same cycle as WSE 2.0. WSE v2.0 is inline with Visual Studio .NET 2003 support cycle. WSE v1.0 had a limited support policy of 2 years mainstream support and 1 year of extended support (2+1). WSE 1.0 End of Life is December 2004.

I want to see a demo: If you are at TechEd then we will demo this adapter in Brian Loesgen's session (EBZ312 10:15-11:30, Room 9) on Wednesday.

Note: This is a technology preview (ie. pre-beta) release targetted at early-adopters. Expect a few rough edges and post to the beta newsgroup for support.
