HTML 5: Hot Stuff!

HTML 5, Windows 7, Windows 2008 and future version of Windows Operating System, what is the future?  XAML, will it go away?  Should I crank down on HTML 5 and ignore Windows Presentation Foundation 4.0?  Should I buy Gold?

Ok, looks like Google Chrome has gotten their vulnerabilities down to 70 vulnerabilities.  See: https://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/search-results?query=Chrome&search_type=last3months&cves=on

  • Internet Explorer has 23 Vulnerabilities
  • Firefox has 46
  • Safari (using the same search criteria) has 0

 

XAML, will it go away?

I don’t think so, there is a lot of development accomplished and to drop it would not be a good experience for the Microsoft development ecology.  On the other hand, my guess is that the complexity of XAML, for instance the hierarchical data control as well as other fun things will cause the audience to consider switching to working with HTML5 over time.

Should I crank down on HTML 5 and ignore Windows Presentation Foundation 4.0?

First off, I am cranking down on Windows Presentation 4.0 AND HTML 5.  What should you do?  If you like XAML and there is a lot to like to XAML, I would continue to use XAML.  If you are starting anew, then HTML 5 might be a better bet.

So wasn’t that helpful.  Definitely a “Mom” answer.  Sorry.  It’s up to you.

Should I buy Gold?

I am not buying Gold.  For one thing: Where do I store it?  Now what happens if the economies go bust, how do I spend it?  Are we carrying around little scales?  Am I going to have pockets filled with gold coins?  In that case are suspenders coming back for men?  Will women have to walk around with gold coins in their purses?  Seriously, gold is a metal that is used industrially and for jewelry.  I just bought a very nice watch that uses the WWV to set itself most days and as far as I can tell there isn’t any gold in it, unless the electronics use a little gold.

Finally…

But like XAML and HTML 5, you have to make decisions using your own matrix to determine the path you wish to take.
