Lync Online Bandwidth Requirements
Q: (from Bill)
I have a quick question about Lync Online. Is there a good reference number for estimated bandwidth required for voice and/or video calls per user?
A:
A quick Bing search on “Lync bandwidth” resulted in the following link to a Lync bandwidth estimation tool:

I saw that but it’s for Lync Server. I’m looking for Lync Online. Does that make a difference?
A:
That’s a good point and thinking through it logically, your communication with the Lync Online server is mostly handshaking and establishing the communication path (minimal bandwidth needs). After that the voice/video communication is mostly point-to-point and would require the same bandwidth considerations of an on-premises Lync server.
This reasoning is validated by this site:

Makes sense, however, the bandwidth calculator is kind of overkill for what I’m looking for. I was hoping for something like “voice calls max out at ____ and video will max out at _______ per user.”
A:
Ah… Then another Bing search on “Lync bandwidth maximum” resulted in:
