Microsoft Azure and Partner of Record

Todd Sweetser

Hi Cloud Sellers!

Some of you may have noticed that there is a new setting in your customers’ Microsoft Azure account subscription settings, notably titled “Partner Information” as shown below:

This is indeed where you can now set your firm as Partner of Record on each subscription. After selecting item above you will see below familiar (from Office 365) dialog box:

Here is where your customer would enter and verify your MPN ID (they need to know your ID as there is no search function currently) and then submit.

Note that this is being rolled out gradually and you may not see it in older Azure tenants yet.

What does this mean for you as partner? Today (Phase 1) it is merely connecting you with the tenant and allowing proper communication from Microsoft to flow to both the customer and you as a partner. Also note there are no changes involving incentives today. Over the next couple of months we will communicate the details of Phase 2 and how it impact other capabilities such as allowing your customers’ Azure consumption to count towards competencies, integrate incentives, and provide better overall reporting on your MPN Dashboard. (Please note that PSX is still the only method where eligible partners register and get recognized for Azure Incentives.) Stay tuned for further communication as these become available.

Thanks, and good selling!
