Remarks

Pointer to the IVsHierarchy interface of the hierarchy to which the selected item belongs. This pointer can be set to null if the grfGSI flag in GetSelectedItems is set to GSI_fOmitHierPtrs. Setting this flag to GSI_fOmitHierPtrs is an optimization that allows a VSPackage to avoid returning the same pointer twice.
