Identify and deploy candidate selection tools

Important

The functionality noted in this article is currently available in both the stand-alone Dynamics 365 Human Resources and the merged Finance infrastructure. Navigation might be different than noted while we make updates. If you need to find a specific page, you can use Search.

Finding a qualified pool of candidates to fill vacancies can be difficult, especially when a position requires a unique set of skills. However, candidates with the skills you need might already be employed in your organization. You can search for a specific skill set among existing employees, or new applicants. This allows a recruiter to quickly gather and screen applicants who have applied for open position now or in the past, or to find potential candidates from their existing pool of employees. Use this procedure to learn how the skill mapping functionality can help you find the right person for an open position. The USMF demo data company was used to create this procedure.

  1. Go to Human resources > Competencies > Skill analysis > Skill mapping profiles.

  2. Select New.

  3. In the Skill mapping field, enter a name for your skill mapping. For example, enter Accountant.

  4. In the Description field, enter a description of the skill mapping.

  5. In the Date field, enter a date.

  6. Select Retrieve profile to pull in the certificate, skill, and education data from a selected person, job, or course, so that you can use it as the basis for your search. You can then add or remove criteria, indicate whether they are optional, and rank their importance.

  7. Select Job.

  8. In the Job field, enter or select a value.

  9. Select OK.

  10. On the Range FastTab, add any additional information, such as the department.

  11. On the Certificates FastTab, view or edit the certificates.

  12. On the Skills FastTab, view or edit the skills.

  13. On the Education FastTab, view or edit the education criteria.

  14. Select Execute.

  15. Select OK.

  16. Select Result.

  17. Select Result.

  18. Select Resume.

  19. Select Certificates.

You can drill further into each person who is listed, to view details about their education, skills, and professional experience.

  20. Close the page.

  21. Close the page.

  22. Select result again.

  23. Select Report.

The best matches will be listed at the top of the report. You should see that a gap element is listed. This element represents the difference between the level that was listed on the skill mapping and the level of the skill that is assigned to the person.

  24. Close the page.

  25. Select Save.
