Alternative depreciation profile

Applies To: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 Feature Pack, Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

You can use a straight line depreciation method as an alternative depreciation method.

When you are using a depreciation method that is based on a percentage, you can use the alternative depreciation profile to automatically switch to the alternative depreciation method from the original depreciation method when the amount for the straight line method would be higher than for the original method.

To do this, you must set up a second depreciation profile for the value model. The calculations according to the depreciation profile and alternative depreciation profile are compared, and the highest depreciation in the depreciation proposal is suggested for posting.

If an alternative depreciation profile is set up for the value model, the information from the value model will be used during depreciation for the fixed asset.

To view future depreciation, click Inquiry > Profile in the Value models form to view the future depreciation calculation.
