Appreciation by Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools®

Appreciation is recognizing that something, or someone, is important and valuable. It's also showing gratitude towards that thing or that person. This has many benefits. People can feel happier and healthier when they show appreciation and when they feel appreciated!

How can we learn to appreciate ourselves and others?

Help your students show appreciation by completing these lessons.

The lessons aim to move students past tolerance and into appreciation. Students begin by identifying their own qualities and practice showing self-appreciation. They'll apply self-reflection strategies as they work on increasing self-worth. Next, students learn how they can show meaningful appreciation toward others. They can create an appreciation post and share it with that person. These lessons are great to pair with our 'Understanding Disabilities’ unit. When combined, students learn to value what people with disabilities can do.
