Visualize app dependencies
This article describes how to visualize and review app dependencies in Movere.
Find app dependencies
Search for a specific device for which you want to find and visualize app dependencies.
- In the Movere portal menu, navigate to Fwd.
- Search for app dependencies by specifying a device name, a specific tag, or a specific environment setting.
- The search retrieves information, and the visualization map displays.
- You can navigate within the map using a number of icons.
- Views mappings for internal and external connections. Drill down to see details about each connection and device, as well as processes running on devices.
Example
We want to migrate an on-premises Dynamics CRM application server (DYNCRM.IO.PRIV) to Azure. To minimize disruption, we want to group dependent servers together for migration.
In FWD > Device Name, we search for the server name, and confirm the selection.
We select the CRM server, and then select the corresponding SQL Server.
On the SQL Server, we select the sqlserver service to find the dependencies.
On the CRM app server, we can highlight and remove the services we're not interested in migrating from scope. To do this, we select the service, and click Toggle Process.
To tag the servers, we select both the app and SQL servers, and click the bulk update icon.
We add a tag (Azure Wave 1- Dynamics CRM) to group the servers for migration.
Going forward, we can filter on the tag to identify further dependencies.
