2.2.3.96 LessThan

The LessThan element is an optional child element of the And or Or element in Search command requests that contains elements that specify a property and a value that are compared for a "less than" condition during a search.

Elements referenced in this section are defined in the Search namespace, except where otherwise indicated by the presence of a namespace prefix (as defined in section 2.2.4).

The result of including more than one LessThan element in a Search command request is undefined. The server MAY return a protocol status error in response to such a command request.

The LessThan element is supported only in mailbox searches. It is not supported for document library searches. The comparison is made between the value of the Value element and the date that a mailbox item was received. The email:DateReceived element MUST be present before the Value element.

Typically, this element is used to filter results by the date on which they were received so that the date received is less than the specified value.

If the LessThan element is included as a child element of any element other than the And element (section 2.2.3.10) or Or element (section 2.2.3.126), the server responds with a Status element (section 2.2.3.177.13) value of 8 (SearchTooComplex).
