5.1 Security Considerations for Implementers

FRS uses MD5 hashes of file contents to determine whether files are identical across replicas. MD5 is no longer considered a cryptographically secure hash function; thus, it might be computationally feasible to produce two files with different content that have the same hash value. Consider this when deploying FRS in an environment where files in the replicated folders can be created by untrustworthy sources.
