1.6 Applicability Statement

This protocol can be used to provide directory service functionality. It is intended for use by the message queuing system, and it supports a fixed and limited set of directory object types and MSMQ object properties. It is not intended as a general-purpose directory service.

The functionality of this protocol has been superseded by Active Directory and LDAP [MS-ADTS] in conjunction with the algorithm specified in [MS-MQDSSM]. A server can implement this protocol to support clients of this protocol to access the Active Directory based directory service. Future development based on this protocol is strongly discouraged.<2>
