The DC requires the ability to send and receive SMTP messages. Any SMTP Mail Transfer Agent (MTA) (as specified in [RFC2821]) can be used.<1>

The final choice of replication transport is made by the KCC, on a per-NC replica basis, as specified in [MS-ADTS].
