A new certificate request MUST use one of the following certificate request formats as specified in section 2.2.2.6:

  • PKCS #10

  • CMS with embedded PKCS #10

  • CMS with embedded CMC

  • KEYGEN

The following sections specify the specific CA processing rules for a new certificate request for each one of the preceding formats.
