The 2021 release wave 2 plan covers all new functionalities planned to be delivered to market from October 2021 to March 2022. In this article, you'll find the product overview and what's new and planned for AI Builder.

Overview

AI Builder is a Microsoft Power Platform capability that gives everyone in your organization, regardless of their technical expertise, the ability to add AI capabilities to the applications and automation flows they create and use. Using AI is made easier with the native integration of AI Builder in the Power Automate and Power Apps experiences.

We're focusing on providing new functionalities centered around intelligent document processing experiences. New functionalities include the ability to extract a broader set of content types in documents, such as checkboxes, signatures, typed fields like date and currency, and support for more prebuilt models in the document automation solution (for example, receipts, and invoices). Our focus is also on improving the AI model discovery experience, improving performance metrics, and simplifying the authoring experience.

AI scenario improvements
One of the core principles of AI Builder is to give citizen makers the ability to build AI scenarios with easy-to-use and delightful user interfaces. Scenario improvements focus on the top of the funnel, including redesigning the AI Builder homepage to make it easier to understand the breadth of business possibilities with AI and to try out AI scenarios.

Extend AI Builder across Microsoft Power Platform
AI Builder is already integrated into Power Apps and Power Automate, giving makers the ability to create AI models and infuse them into their apps and flows. We're focusing on improving the ability to integrate AI models into Power Automate and Microsoft Teams with new templates and easy-to-leverage authoring examples for makers.

Document processing improvements
New capabilities for intelligent document processing allow customers to process a broader range of document types with increased accuracy. Feature updates include:

  • Checkbox detection in documents
  • General availability of the supervised tables feature that allows users to customize an AI model to detect complex tables in documents
  • Support for multipage tables
  • The ability to process a page range of documents
  • Extraction of typed fields (for example, dates and currency)
  • Signature detection in documents
  • Accuracy score
  • Increased collection size, which allows users to train a model to detect up to 200 collections of documents in the same model
  • Support for more than 73 languages detected in forms processing custom model
