Application/service principal support in connectors allow customers to access data sources securely.
With this release, you can now access data sources secured by Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) using an application or service principal. Using a service principal to access data sources has many benefits. It improves the security of the application, since the application identity can be provided with the least permissions necessary to access the data sources. It also enables background automation to not require a user identity to be present.
Customers can opt into using the service principal as an option when creating the connection to the data sources. This feature is now supported for most of the connectors that connect to services secured by Azure AD. This includes SQL Server Database, Azure Blob Storage, and many others.
