This is preliminary documentation and subject to change.

This topic documents a feature of the Windows Media Device Manager SDK. We recommend that you migrate your application to use the Windows Portable Devices API. For more information, see the Windows Portable Devices SDK.

The Clone method returns a copy of the IWMDMEnumDevice interface. The new enumerator specifies the same enumeration state as the current enumerator.

Syntax

HRESULT Clone(
  IWMDMEnumDevice** ppEnumDevice
);

Parameters

ppEnumDevice

[out]  Address of a pointer to an IWMDMEnumDevice interface. The caller must release this interface when done with it.

Return Values

The method returns an HRESULT. All the interface methods in Windows Media Device Manager can return any of the following classes of error codes:

  • Standard COM error codes
  • Windows error codes converted to HRESULT values
  • Windows Media Device Manager error codes

For an extenstive list of possible error codes, see Error Codes.

Possible values include, but are not limited to, those in the following table.

Return code Description
S_OK The method succeeded.
E_INVALIDARG The ppEnumDevice parameter is an invalid or NULL pointer.
E_OUTOFMEMORY There is not enough memory to replicate the original interface.

Remarks

Using this method, a client can record a particular point in the enumeration sequence and return to that point later. The new enumerator supports the same interface as the original one.
