Custom Work Items

Custom Work Items

Visual Studio 2005 projects typically contain work items that allow teams to track work done or work to be done. Work items include entities such as bugs, requirements, risks, and issues that can be associated with development work. Since each development environment is unique, Team Foundation Server allows teams to create custom work items to suit the needs of their development environment. For example, an organization might decide to create a "feature" work item. This could then be used to associate work done with the feature that it supports.

New work item types may be associated with a process template. This is a template that determines how new projects are created. Custom work item types may also be imported into an existing project using the work item import command-line utility.
