Deployment Designer – Deployment Report

Team Edition for Software Architects supports sophisticated deployment planning and validation with its interactive designers for applications, datacenters, and deployments. A deployment diagram maps an application to a logical datacenter. A deployment report can be created from this mapping that identifies resources, settings, errors, and warnings associated with the deployment. Not only does this report give IT access to critical information about the deployment, it can be used to script application settings as part of the deployment plan.

The deployment report comes in two formats, HTML, and XML. The HTML version of the deployment report shows all the resources contained in the deployment, and the settings associated with each. It can also include warnings and errors that were detected during deployment validation. The XML version of the report contains the same information, however in this case the data is formatted in a scriptable manifest. This manifest can be used to automate application settings as part of the deployment.

To view a deployment report, validate a deployment diagram in Visual Studio 2005.
