Deployment Designer – Validation

Service oriented applications often involve multiple components that may reside on different servers and have a variety of configuration and communication requirements. The Team Edition for Software Architects Deployment Designer can be used to validate an application diagram for deployment in a particular datacenter. Validation detects many common deployment issues, allowing the development team to resolve them before deployment occurs. This has the potential to greatly reduce the complexity of service oriented application deployments.

The validation process checks that all the required resources for the application are present, that valid communication pathways exist, and that application settings are compatible with server configuration. For example, if an application is designed to use anonymous authentication, but the server hosting it does not support this authentication method for security purposes, a validation error will result.

To validate a deployment diagram right-click the diagram and select Validate.
