Easier, more relevant help search

The Help system in Visual Studio 2005, powered by the new Document Explorer, enables you to find the information you need in a number of ways. The familiar Contents, Index, and Favorites windows are now supplemented with a “How Do I” feature that lets you topics by category, for example. But the new Help capabilities you will probably find most useful are found in the Search interface, which includes powerful new ways to find and filter the information you are looking for. The Search interface seamlessly integrates local searching with online searching an expanded set of information resources. The universe of searchable information has been widened to include not only online documentation and forums from Microsoft’s MSDN site, but articles and downloads from dozens of Codezone partner sites as well.

The best part is that you now have sophisticated new ways to filter your full-text searches of these resources. You can narrow your search results by selecting options in the Language, Technology, and Topic Type categories. You can specify which of three locations to look for help: local Help installed on your computer, MSDN Online, and Codezone Community Web sites. Search results are sortable by source and other criteria, and you can choose to display results with or without abstracts.
