Smart Tags for Controls Different controls have different sets of tasks associated with them. Common tasks are readily available through Smart Tags by clicking the Smart Tags anchor on the control you are working with. A panel appears where you can auto-format your DataList control, format your DataNavigator control, and configure the data source for your GridView control. Smart Tags appear when you select a control or hover over its surface. They can also be configured to appear when the control is dragged onto the page from the Toolbox or when when the control is selected for the first time after you switch from Source view.
