Deployment Phases for Operations Manager 2007

The deployment of Operations Manager 2007 can be divided into two major phases: requirement verification and component deployment.

Requirements Verification for Operations Manager 2007

Use the following steps to verify that your environment meets the system requirements for Operations Manager 2007:

  1. For Operations Manager 2007 system requirements, see OpsMgr2007SupportedConfigurations.htm in the ProductDocumentation folder of the Operations Manager 2007 installation media.
  2. To verify that a computer meets Operations Manager 2007 system requirements, see How to Run the Operations Manager 2007 Prerequisite Viewer.
  3. For the accounts necessary to deploy Operations Manager 2007, see Operations Manager 2007 Accounts.
  4. Read the Operations manager 2007 release notes, the OpsMgr2007ReleaseNotes.htm file in the ProductDocumentation folder of the Operations Manager 2007 installation media, for changes that might affect your plans.

Deployment of Operations Manager 2007 Components

The following steps provide guidance for deploying the Operations Manager 2007 components:

  1. Deploy an Operations Manager 2007 database, Management Servers, Operations and Web consoles. For more information, see How to Deploy an Operations Manager 2007 Management Group Using the Setup Wizard.
  2. Deploy Operations Manager 2007 gateway servers if the computers to be managed are not in domains or are in domains that do not have two-way trusts with the domains of their Root Management Server and secondary Management Server. For more information about gateway servers, see Gateway Server.
  3. Discover computers and network devices, and configure them to be managed by the Operations Manager 2007 Management Group. For more information, see Configuring Objects to Be Managed by Operations Manager 2007.
  4. Import Management Packs into the Operations Manager 2007 Management Group. For more information, see Management Packs in Operations Manager 2007.
  5. Optionally, deploy Operations Manager 2007 Reporting for the Management Group. For more information, see Reporting Pane in Operations Manager 2007.
  6. Optionally, enable the Client Monitoring feature for the Operations Manager 2007 Management Group. For more information, see Client Monitoring in Operations Manager 2007.
