Description
Defines a slow connection for roaming user profiles for non-IP computers.
This entry stores the setting of the Time (milliseconds) box in the Slow network connection timeout for user profiles Group Policy. Group Policy adds this entry to the registry when you enable the policy. If you disable the policy or set it to Not Configured, Group Policy deletes this entry from the registry, and the system behaves as though the value is 120 milliseconds.
If the server on which the user's roaming user profile resides takes longer to respond than the threshold set by this entry, then the system considers the connection to the profile to be slow.
This entry together with the related entries listed here define the system's response when roaming user profiles are slow to load.
Change method
To change the value of this entry, use Group Policy. This entry corresponds to the Time (milliseconds) spin box in the Slow network connection timeout for user profiles Group Policy (Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Logon).
Note
For IP computers, use the UserProfileMinTransferRate entry.
If the value of the SlowLinkDetectEnabled entry is set to 1, this entry is ignored. Also, if the value of the DeleteRoamingCache entry is set to 1, there is no local copy of the roaming profile to load when the system detects a slow connection.
Tip
Consider increasing this value for clients using Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) service-assigned addresses or for computers accessing profiles across dial-up connections.
