Importing Profile Schema

When you import schema, you import the following into the Profiles resource from an XML file:

  • Data sources
  • Data source partitions (without user names and passwords)
  • Profile definitions
  • Site terms

When you import profile schema, it overwrites existing profile schema.

To import profile schema

  1. Expand Commerce Server Manager, expand Global Resources, expand Profiles (<computer name_datbase name>), right-click Profile Catalog, and then click Import Profile Schema.

  2. In the Select a File dialog box, select the profile schema you want to import, and then click Open to open the Profile Schema Import dialog box.

  3. In the Import Profile Schema dialog box, select the file containing profile schema you want to import, and then click Import.

    • To edit the connection string for the selected profile schema, click Edit.
  4. In the Partitions dialog box, expand the data source that contains the partitions you want to import, select the data source partition you want to import, and then click Edit.

    You must enter a user name and password for each data source partition you want to import.

  5. In the partition connection string dialog box, click Test to make sure that the connection string works.

  6. Repeat steps 4 through 6 until you have added user names and passwords for all of the partitions you want to import.

  7. Click Import to import the partition. Click Yes to import the partition and overwrite the existing schema.

The profile schema is imported, overwriting the existing schema.
