Multiple Discount Examples
Commerce Server 2002 provides the ability to apply multiple discounts to an item or an order, and control over the sequence in which the discounts are applied. You can also mix both item-level and order-level discounts in a single order.
Item-level/Item-level: Buy A, Get B at 50 percent off, and buy A, Get C at $10.00 off
Item-level/Item-level: Buy X, Get A at 50 percent off, and buy B, Get X at 50 percent off
Item-level/Item-level: Buy A, Get X at 50 percent off, and buy X, Get B at 50 percent off
Item-level/Item-level: Buy A, Get X at $10.00 off, and buy B, Get X at $20.00 off
Order-level/Order-level: Buy more than $100.00 of A, get $10.00 off the total, and buy 10 of A, get 10 percent off the total
Item-level/Order-level: Buy A, get B at 10 percent off, and buy C, get $10.00 off the total
Item-level/Item-level: Buy A, get B at 50 percent off, and buy A, Get C at $10.00 off

Condition: Buy a Petzl harness (QW072-10)
Award: Get a 50 percent discount off the El Captain harness (AW053-10), and $10.00 off the Black Diamond Bod harness (AW032-32).
Discount interaction policy: Allow conditions of this discount to be reused as the conditions for other discounts

The condition of the discounts is met because the user placed the Petzl Mercury harness in the basket. The discount interaction policy allows the Petzl Mercury harness to be reused as the condition for another discount, therefore, the 50 percent discount award is applied to the El Capitan harness, and the $10.00 discount award is applied to the Black Diamond Bod harness.
Item-level/Item-level: Buy X, Get A at 50 percent off, and buy B, Get X at 50 percent off

The discount interaction policy allows the Women's 4 pocket pants be reused as the award, therefore, the 50 percent discount award is applied to the Women's 4 pocket pant, and the Unisex hiking pants.

The discount interaction policy allows the Tuscany rockshoes award to be used as the award for both discounts, therefore, the Tuscany rockshoes receives both the $10.00 off award, and the $20.00 off award for a total of $30.00 off.
Order-level/Order-level: Buy more than $100.00 of A, get $10.00 off the total, and buy 10 of A, get 10 percent off the total

Award: Get a 10 percent discount off the order subtotal.

The following basket shows a $10.00 discount off the order subtotal and a 10 percent discount off the subtotal. The conditions of the discount are met because the user placed three shirts, which totaled over $100.00, and 10 Men's button down shirts in the basket. The discount interaction policy allows the order subtotal award to be reused as an award, therefore, both the $10.00 discount and the 10 percent discount are both applied to the order subtotal. The amount of the order subtotal discount is distributed across both line items in the basket.
Item-level/Order-level: Buy A, get B at 10 percent off, and buy C, get $10.00 off the total
The following Discount Definition screens show how to create a discount that contains an item-level discount and an order-level discount.
Condition: Buy a Polar Star sleeping bag (AW310-12).
Award: Get 10 percent discount off a North Face Sunspot sleeping bag (AW390-12).
Discount interaction policy: None.
Priority: 10
Condition: Buy a Big Sur sleeping bag (AW200-12).
Award: Get $10.00 off the order subtotal.
Discount interaction policy: None.

The following basket shows a 10 percent discount off the North Face Sunspot sleeping bag and a 10 percent discount off the order subtotal. The conditions of the discounts are met, because the user placed the Polar Star sleeping bag in the basket, and the Big Sur sleeping bag. Therefore, the 10 percent award is applied to the North Face Sunspot sleeping bag and the $10.00 award is applied to the order subtotal. The amount of the order subtotal discount is distributed across the three line items in the basket.
