"Quadrant" Master/Detail Viewer

[This content is no longer valid. For the latest information on "M", "Quadrant", SQL Server Modeling Services, and the Repository, see the Model Citizen blog.]

A Master/Detail Viewer is composed of two viewers. For example, a Master/Detail Viewer could be composed of a master List view that shows a collection and a detail Properties view that shows a specific item in the collection. When a record is represented in a Master/Detail Viewer, only the master view is initially displayed. Selecting an item in the master view displays information about that item in the detail viewer in the right pane.

By default, the viewer used for the Detail pane is the default viewer for the record type. For example, a Master/Detail Viewer that shows a collection of processes will use the Diagram Viewer to host the Details of a selected process, whereas a collection of People will use the Properties Viewer to host the properties associated with a person. In the Master/Detail Viewer, you can configure the Master and the Detail viewers with all the options outlined in the corresponding viewer topics in "Quadrant" User Interface Reference.
