BOM Component Table

Manages data for assembly BOMs.

An assembly BOM is an item that consists of other items or other assembly BOMs. For example, a loaf of bread is an assembly BOM in the food industry because it consists of several other items, such as flour, eggs, and yeast. A sandwich is a BOM with two levels because a sandwich consists of ham, cheese, and bread, for example, and bread is itself an assembly BOM.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV distinguishes between assembly BOMs and production BOMs. For more information, see Assembly BOMs versus Production BOMs.

The BOM Component table manages data for assembly BOMs.

If an item is an assembly BOM, then the Assembly BOM field on the item card is selected.
