Journal

Design a journal page to support users’ tasks of entering, adjusting, and then posting journal lines to specific ledgers. A journal is a type of worksheet page optimized for managing journal entries grouped in named batches.

Journal page guidelines

From the user’s perspective, the following are qualities of a well-designed journal page:

  • Presents a grid with columns in a sequence that is optimized for entering journal lines.

  • Has fields above the grid that specify the journal batch, and specify any default values effective during data entry and editing in the grid.

  • If summary fields or additional details of the selected row are shown, these appear below the list.
