Dealing with Changes to Your Environment
After you deploy System Center Advisor, if you make changes to your environment, the behavior of Advisor might change. See the information below for details on the impact your changes will have in Advisor.
Dropped database
If you drop a database that was previously analyzed by Advisor, you will have to manually ignore any alerts related to that database. See Ignore an Alert for information on how to do this.
Uninstalling SQL Server
If you uninstall SQL Server from a computer with an Advisor agent installed, you will have to manually ignore any SQL Server alerts related to that computer. See Ignore an Alert for information on how to do this.
Uninstalling Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2
If you uninstall the operating system from the computer where the agent was installed, you can still use Advisor to view the alerts generated before you uninstalled. Also, the configuration information for the computer will still be available on the Configuration: Current Snapshot and Configuration: Change History pages, although the Last Updated column is not updated with the date that you uninstalled the operating system.
Uninstalling Windows Server 2008 or 2008 R2, and then reinstalling with the same computer name
If you uninstall the operating system, reinstall it and use the same computer name, and then install a new agent, the agent will be displayed in Advisor and you can view and interact with alerts related to the agent. However, you will not see new configuration data in either of the configuration views due to a known issue that will be fixed in a future release.
Reinstalling SQL Server with the same instance name and database names
If you uninstall and then reinstall SQL Server, using the same instance name and database names, your Advisor agent will function normally. Alerts will be generated and displayed in Advisor, as well as configuration information.
