Internet Connection Sharing Implementation Considerations

You can include the Internet Connection Sharing feature in your platform by choosing the feature from the Catalog. Choosing this feature sets the appropriate SYSGEN variable for enabling the feature.

The following table shows the Sysgen variable that enables the Internet Connection Sharing features listed.

Sysgen variable Feature
SYSGEN_GATEWAY When this variable is set, the Internet Connection Sharing feature is included in the OS image. This feature is a collection of services that multiple devices can use to share a single Internet connection.

This feature is available in both headless and display-based devices.

SYSGEN_IGD When this variable is set, the Sample UPnP IGD Schema Implementation feature is included in the OS image. This feature is a sample implementation that shows how to implement the Internet Gateway Device (IGD) schema.

To enable this feature, the following features must also be included in your configuration:

  • Authentication Services (SSPI)
  • NTLM
  • Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)
  • Web Server (HTTPD)
  • Core Server Support
  • IP Helper API
  • XML Minimal Parser
  • Core Server Support
  • Device Host API (Minimal Subset)

The Sample UPnP IGD Schema Implementation feature is available in both headless and display-based devices.
