Setting Up an Account with a License Provider

A license provider must issue the licenses for the content that you protect. In order to do this, you must first set up an account with a license provider that supports Windows Media Encoder 9 Series. For more information about third-party license providers, see the Microsoft Web site.

When you set up this account, the license provider will prompt you to select the rights you want to include in your licenses. Depending on the license provider, you might be prompted to specify other settings, such as how you want to issue licenses.

Once you have set up your account, the license provider will create a DRM profile and save it to your local computer. This DRM profile can only be used by the user account under which it was created. Depending on the license provider, you might be allowed to create your own DRM profile (you'll need four certificate and signing values from the license provider first, and then after creating the DRM profile, you must share the necessary information with the license provider). For more information, see Creating a DRM Profile.
