Summary

This article describes the tooling support for Model-View-Controller (MVC) 4 projects in Visual Studio 2015 Update 1 RC.

Symptoms

When you use MVC 4 projects in Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 RTM, you can open existing projects only in the IDE because the tooling support for MVC 4 is removed in Visual Studio 2015 RTM. However, the tooling support for MVC 4 projects is available in Visual Studio 2015 Update 1 RC. This support includes item templates, syntax colorization, intellisense in Razor v2 files (.cshtml and .vbhtml), MVC 4 code examples, and scaffolding MVC 4 views and controllers.

Update information

This update is not available externally as a separate download. The hotfix is intended to be included only with Visual Studio 2015 Update 1 because it works together with other product updates that ship as part of this update.
