Exchange UM Integration Utility

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

The Exchange UM Integration Utility (that is, Ocsumutil.exe) is a command-line tool that you can use to integrate Office Communications Server and Exchange Unified Messaging to enable Enterprise Voice messaging.

The tool has two functions:

  • Create contact objects for all defined Exchange Unified Messaging subscriber access and auto-attendants. These objects are needed to route incoming subscriber access and auto-attendant calls to Exchange Unified Messaging.

  • Verify that the Exchange Unified Messaging SIP dial plan names match the corresponding Office Communications Server location profiles. This functionality is needed to enable the routing of outgoing calls from Exchange Unified Messaging to Office Communications Server and to ensure that the correct number normalization is performed. The tool does not correct any mismatches; it only displays them.

You can use the tool in the following situations:

  • When initially configuring integration between Office Communications Server and Exchange Unified Messaging. Unified Messaging configuration needs to be completed before you run this tool.

  • When new Exchange Unified Messaging dial plans are installed for Office Communications Server or when additional subscriber access and auto-attendants are added to an existing Office Communications Server-related dial plan.

  • Troubleshooting inbound routing from Office Communications Server to Exchange Unified Messaging subscriber access and auto-attendant numbers.

  • Troubleshooting outbound routing from Exchange Unified Messaging to Office Communications Server for features like Play on Phone and Call Back.

OCSUMUtil.exe is available in the %InstallDir%\Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2\Server\Support\ directory on a computer on which Office Communications Server 2007 R2 is installed. For details about running the Exchange UM Integration Utility, see Step 3. Configure Communications Server to Work with Unified Messaging on Microsoft Exchange Server in the Deploying Enterprise Voice documentation.
