Communicator Web Access Scenario

Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 will reach end of support on January 9, 2018. To stay supported, you will need to upgrade. For more information, see Resources to help you upgrade your Office 2007 servers and clients.

Communicator Web Access (2007 R2 release) is a browser-based application that provides access to the instant messaging (IM), audio, and desktop sharing capabilities of Office Communications Server 2007 R2. Using only an Internet connection and a Web browser, Communicator Web Access enables you to take advantage of Office Communications Server 2007 R2 features even when you are away from your personal computer. Communicator Web Access is similar to Office Communicator 2007 R2, making it easy to switch between the two applications. Both applications provide you access to the same contact list and similar IM, call management, and desktop sharing capabilities. Audio functions in Communicator Web Access (2007 R2 release) enable you to place voice calls to both yourself and a remote contact by using the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 to create an audio channel for conferencing.
