Internet Standard Message Formats

The Exchange store, Microsoft® Exchange Server 2010, and the CDO for Exchange 2000 Server (CDOEX) Component Object Model (COM) components are designed to support Internet standard message formats that specify how electronic messages should be formatted when transferred over a network. Messages are stored in Internet standard formats in the Exchange store and transferred in these formats across the network using the Internet standard SMTP. When using the CDOEX COM component, you can create applications that automatically construct, send, receive, and interpret messages in these Internet standard formats.
